Frequently asked

The questions
we get most.

Costs, timelines, areas covered, insurance, guarantees — most of the things people want to know before they ring us. If your question isn't here, just ask.

How much does a new patio cost in Hastings or Bexhill?+
A small porcelain patio (around 20m²) typically starts at £4,500–£6,500 fitted; Indian sandstone is a bit less, premium porcelain a bit more. Every site is different — sub-base depth, access, drainage and edge treatments all move the number — so I'd much rather come out and give you a proper fixed quote than guess by phone.
How long does a typical project take?+
Patios usually run 1–3 weeks. Decks 1–2 weeks. Fencing is often a day or two per side. Full garden builds run anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks depending on scope. I give a confirmed start date and timeline with every quote.
Do you cover Rye, Battle and the surrounding villages?+
Yes — I work across Hastings, Bexhill, St Leonards, Rye, Battle, Winchelsea, Fairlight, Pett, Westfield, Crowhurst, Ninfield, Sedlescombe and surrounding villages. If your postcode is TN31–TN40, you're in my patch.
Are you insured?+
Yes — £5 million public liability and tool cover. I can email certificates of insurance to you before you commit to anything.
What guarantee do you give?+
Every TRC build comes with a written 10-year workmanship guarantee covering the structural elements I install. Manufacturer warranties on materials are on top of that.
Can you handle the whole garden — design, build and planting?+
Yes. I design, build the hard landscaping, fit the fencing and lay the planting and lawns end-to-end. One person to talk to, one timeline, one invoice.
Do I need planning permission?+
Most patios, decks and fences fall under permitted development, but there are exceptions — fence heights over 2m, decks over 30cm high, listed buildings and conservation areas (parts of Hastings Old Town and Rye especially). I'll flag anything that needs checking before I quote.
When can you start?+
Lead times depend on the season. Spring books up fast — I usually take March–May enquiries from January. For autumn and winter work, lead times are typically 3–6 weeks.
Do you take payments in stages?+
Yes. For larger projects I work in three stages: deposit on confirmation, milestone payment partway through, final payment after handover. Bank transfer, cheque or card. No deposit on smaller jobs.
Can you work around pets, kids and existing planting?+
Absolutely. Most of my customers want to use part of the garden while I work, so I partition off the work area, keep tools tidy and protect plants we're keeping. Just tell me what matters and I'll plan around it.
Do you remove existing patios, decks and fencing?+
Yes — I lift, break out and skip everything myself. Removal and disposal is itemised on the quote so you know exactly what you're paying for.
What's the best way to get in touch?+
WhatsApp is fastest (07720 847897). Phone is fine too — I usually pick up, or call back the same day. Email info@trcgardenservices.co.uk if you'd rather write.
